NAMI WALKS 2017 will be on May 20, 2017 at Rye Town Park
Kick Off Event, March 29, 2017
On March 29, NAMI Westchester held its NAMIWalks 2017 Kick Off Event co-sponsored by Hutchinson Metro Center, Quality Building Services and TD Bank. More than 70 people attended and enjoyed the musical talents of Jeff Zitofsky. Frank Cerbone from All State Air Control received the Community Spirit Award for his commitment to our annual walk and the many hours he has dedicated to help toward it success. Marie Considine, Director of Development, and Daniele Vazquez, walk Committee Chair, discussed the NAMIWalks program and plans for our 2017 walk. We would also like to thank Best Wine Purveyors for donating the wine.
Joe Fusaro, an Ending the Silence young adult presenter, spoke on his “why” and the formation of his team for this year’s walk, Peace is Easier; Diana Cusumano, team captain for Mental Health Warriors, shared suggestions on how to organize team events to raise funds; and Jen Zelop, owner of THRIVE, who will provide the warm-up on walk day, greeted the crowd. Happily several new teams signed up at the event as well.

NAMIWalks successfully promotes awareness, encourages understanding and combats stigma. It is a great community event on a spring morning by the water. Refreshments, kids’ events and more make it a fun experience for all, raising both awareness and much-needed funds, ensuring that NAMI’s mental health programs and services provide help and hope at no cost to individuals and families.
